Puerto Vallarta continues to strengthen its infrastructure with the launch of Jalisco’s first electric public transportation system outside the Guadalajara Metropolitan Area. Representing an investment of nearly MXN $360 million, this project modernizes public transit in one of Mexico’s most important tourist destinations.

The new system operates with 19 fully electric buses and is expected to benefit more than 9,000 passengers every day, providing a more efficient, accessible, and sustainable transportation option for residents, students, workers, and visitors.

A Better Connected City

The electric transit corridor links key areas such as Ixtapa, Las Juntas, Marina Vallarta, Galerías Vallarta, the Hotel Zone, CUCosta, and Downtown Puerto Vallarta through two main routes and a complimentary feeder route serving the University of Guadalajara’s Costa Campus (CUCosta). In addition to reducing travel times, the new buses feature air conditioning, video surveillance, universal accessibility, and LED lighting, offering a safer and more comfortable travel experience.

Mobility That Drives Investment

Transportation infrastructure plays a key role in urban development and property values. A modern transit system improves connectivity in residential areas such as Ixtapa and Las Juntas, making them increasingly attractive places to live and invest. The direct connection to CUCosta also supports demand for housing among students and professionals, while improved access to the Hotel Zone and commercial districts benefits both residents and the tourism industry.
